It is the first question almost every homeowner asks me. And the honest answer is: it depends. A kitchen remodel is not one price. It is a stack of choices, and each choice moves the number up or down. Below I break down what really drives the cost, so you can plan with real numbers and not get surprised.
One thing first. I do not give fake exact prices over the phone. Every kitchen is different. The smart move is a walkthrough and one written price up front. More on that at the end.
Cabinets: usually the biggest cost
Cabinets are the single biggest part of most kitchen budgets. They can be a third of the whole job or more. The price swing is huge because there are so many levels.
Stock cabinets cost the least. They come in set sizes off a shelf. Semi-custom cost more and let you tweak sizes and finishes. Full custom cabinets cost the most and are built to fit your exact kitchen. Soft-close doors, pull-out drawers, and tall pantry units all add a bit too.
A rough range for cabinets alone in a Utah County kitchen runs from around $6,000 on the low end to $20,000 or more for custom. Where you land depends on the size of your kitchen and the level you pick.
Countertops: quartz, granite, or laminate
Countertops are the next big line. The material you pick changes the price a lot.
Laminate is the budget option and looks better than it used to. Granite is natural stone, so every slab is a little different. Quartz is man-made, very tough, and easy to care for. Granite and quartz cost close to the same and both cost more than laminate.
For most kitchens, plan somewhere from $2,500 to $7,000 for quartz or granite tops, installed. A big island or a fancy edge will push that higher. Laminate can come in well under that.
Layout changes: moving walls and plumbing
This is the part that surprises people. Keeping your kitchen in the same shape is cheaper. The moment you move things, the cost climbs.
Taking out a wall to open the kitchen to the living room means framing and sometimes a beam. Moving the sink means moving plumbing. Moving the stove can mean moving gas or wiring. Each of these is real work and can need a permit and an inspection.

Appliances, flooring, and lighting
These three add up fast, and they are easy to forget when you guess at a budget.
Appliances can be anything from a few thousand dollars for solid basics to a lot more for high-end ranges and built-in fridges. Flooring runs by the square foot, and tile, luxury vinyl plank, and hardwood all sit at different prices. New lighting, like recessed cans and under-cabinet strips, makes a kitchen feel finished and adds a bit too.
None of these are huge on their own. Together they can be several thousand dollars. Good to plan for them up front instead of at the end.

So what does a full kitchen remodel cost in Utah County? Here is the honest way to think about it.
A light refresh that keeps your layout, with new counters, paint, and some updates, often lands in the $15,000 to $30,000 range. A bigger remodel with new cabinets, quartz tops, new flooring, and new appliances commonly runs $30,000 to $60,000. A full gut that moves walls and plumbing and uses high-end finishes can go past that.
These are ranges on purpose. Anyone who gives you one exact number before seeing your kitchen is guessing. Your real price comes from your real kitchen.
